What is “See You at the Pole’’ and why is it so important? See You at the Pole is a nationwide event that takes place on the fourth Wednesday of every September. On this day, students arrive around 30 minutes before the start of school, and they circle around the flagpole and pray about their school, peers, teachers, friends, and anything else that is on their minds. Additionally, teachers, pastors, and some parents are able to come and pray for their community along with the students. At LHS, See You at the Pole is run by the FCA club members who provide breakfast for students.
Larned Assembly of God youth pastor Maddie Smith has been helping with See You at the Pole every year since she was in high school. She stated “See You at the Pole shows that we are standing for the Lord. We are coming together and being bold to pray and seek the Lord.” Smith also talked about how this helps create student leaders around the school by helping them grow in their faith and be confident about spreading it. Freshman Aiden O’Crotty is an example of one of these student leaders. He stated “My favorite thing about this was being able to be with people who believe in the same thing as I do. That morning I was feeling cruddy and didn’t want to go to school but See You at the Pole did switch my day around because there were a lot of people there who did enjoy being there and did want to be there worshipping God.”
Next year See You at the Pole will be held on September 25th, 2024 at the front of the school.
