Ducks Gone Missing

The Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) class has a new tradition. The missing duck. JAG’s Missing Duck is a new challenge that began earlier this year. Every week, there is a new missing duck hidden in a classroom within the school, and most times the missing duck leaves a note, such as, “I see a projection of the career path of many.” The objective is to find the duck, bring it to Mr. Hagerman, and they will receive a small prize. The Jag Missing Duck challenge is a great way to get students to interact with each other and add excitement to the school day. If a student finds the duck they are allowed to keep the duck or exchange it for a different duck.

JAG is a program to help students overcome challenges and plan their futures. During morning announcements, the speaker states, “Help JAG find our missing duck.” After this, the speaker gives the hint. Freshman Faith Kelty stated, “It’s a fun way to pass time.” The challenge keeps students paying attention around the classrooms, which is an easy way for kids to stay entertained during lectures.

The JAG ducks have been found in numerous different places around the school building. One of the most fun ducks was a large ceramic duck chilling out on top of the projector in Mrs. Stahlecker’s business classroom! Another duck was found on a speaker in Mr. Scheideman’s room, but some of the ducks are sneakier and were hidden far better than others. The students around the school that find the ducks often brag about finding them, which further promotes the game to other students around the school.

When asked about the challenge, Sophomore Mallorie Ceniceros made the claim “The school seems like a happier place.” JAG’s Missing Duck has gotten students to interact, and it has added a little bit of fun to the school day. Senior Cortney Craft says “The energy in the hallways has changed since we started this tradition.” JAG’s Missing Duck not only adds excitement to the day but it also helps freshmen and new students to learn more about JAG, and it gets students interested in the program. Overall, the Jag Missing Duck challenge is a positive and fun new tradition we hope to continue here at LHS.
