This year, Larned High School is thrilled to be welcoming some talented new teachers! The school is excited to show off their skills as the year progresses. One of the most important things for students is to have teachers who can educate them on not only the subjects but also on how to be a good person. 

The first of our new teachers is Ms. Miller, who teaches Agriculture Science for grades 7-12 and is so excited for this 2024-2025 school year! She recently graduated from college, so this will be her very first year teaching high school students! When asked what she is looking forward to this year she stated, “I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of the staff and students for USD 495. There have been so many welcoming staff members as well as students this school year!” She also talked about how excited she is to begin teaching! 

The next new teacher here at Larned High School is Mr. Applequist. He is the Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 teacher here. The high school is so excited to have him considering our only other math teachers were Mr. LeRoy and Mrs. Wilson. When asked about what he is excited about this 2024-2025 school year Mr. Applequist said, “I am excited for the opportunity to teach at LHS. I look forward to seeing LHS students around the community now that I know many of them.” With 29 years of previous experience, he stated “It seems crazy to me that I have been teaching for nearly twice as long as most of my students have been alive”, stated Mr. Applequist. We are so excited to have him join the LHS team. 

Those are the two new teachers here at LHS. Mr. Applequist and Ms. Miller are dedicated teachers who are both looking forward to a great school year here at Larned High School, and we cannot wait to see what they will accomplish.
