Student Spotlight: Arianna Hemken

Arianna Hemken, a gifted athlete, scholar, musician, and an all around talented student at LHS is often underappreciated for her talents. At Larned High School, Arianna is involved in many activities including FCA, FCCLA, StuCo, and NHS. She is also the secretary of both FCA and FCCLA. Arianna is also involved in basketball, tennis, scholar’s bowl, and is the first chair flutist in the LHS band.
This was Arianna’s third year in tennis, and it’s no secret that she loves the sport! Arianna’s path to the State Tennis Tournament was not an easy one. In fact, at regionals, she and her doubles partner played their own teammates to qualify for state! “It was very hard to play against our own teammates at regionals. . . It was probably the best outcome that could have come out of the match. We won by two points in the tiebreaker, so there weren’t many hard feelings because the match was competitive, and at the end of it we were still friends,” says Arianna.
The second sport Arianna plays is basketball. When asked about her basketball experience Arianna stated, “I’ve always loved the team aspect of the game.” She then added, “The girls I get to play with are probably my favorite part. They’re all very supportive. The coaches are also amazing, and I’m happy to have them coaching us.”
Arianna plans to go to college at Fort Hays State University; she plans to get an undergraduate degree in Business Corporate Communications. Afterwards, she wants to earn a graduate degree and doctorate degree in a related field. One of the goals Arianna has for the future is to graduate from high school with a 4.0 GPA. With all this in mind, she has high hopes for the future and knows her potential!
Overall, Arianna is a remarkable person who excels at all that she does! We can’t wait to see what lies ahead for her.
