It seems as though our Larned Indian Football team is ready to rumble at their first game of the season on September sixth at Smokey Valley. With the upcoming football season just around the corner, many staff, students, coaches, players, and parents are itching to be back at the field watching our team succeed at their goals. Carson Shaver (QB 1 and senior) stated “I am most looking forward to going out under the Friday Night Lights with my guys.” Talking to Carson shows how high of hopes there are for the new season as it approaches. He stated “Looking around the locker room we have a lot of great talent” he also stated throughout other responses that he is hoping to lead the team to a better season and hoping to beat their past record of 6-3. When asked, Coach Brady Keith seems to be having a lot of the same emotions, just ready to be out on the field again. He mentioned that they have had “great competition from the younger guys for opening spots throughout the off season,” as well as that the older guys have been working hard to fill the shoes of our past seniors. It’s time to enjoy another year of Larned Indian Football!
Larned High School Volleyball has their first game at Halstead on August Thirty-First. As the season begins our team is excited to see where this season will take them. Coach Amy Simmons quoted “We are doing things offensively that we haven’t done in past seasons.” It sounds like our Lady Indians are ready to take over the court with their competitiveness and intensity as Coach Amy mentioned.
With football season starting soon it also means the Larned Cheer season is starting. The Larned Cheerleaders have been working hard throughout the summer. Coach Hannah Smith said “I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on this summer.” Sounds like the girls are excited to show off their new skills in the upcoming season. Kaylyn Snodgrass (senior) said she is most looking forward to their upcoming performance, she has high expectations for this year, and she has no worries.
Golf season is off to a start with practices starting and their first tournament being on September Tenth at one pm. The Golf team is hoping to have another great season. The team lost three graduating seniors this past season but have multiple upcoming stars ready to fill the shoes of the lost player. Crossing our fingers for a bunch of Hole in Ones.
Tennis season has begun and is off to a great start! Practices have been very successful and many new players are learning to be the best they can. There are no seniors on the Tennis team this year but there will be plenty of other players to bring home more medals and trophies to Larned High School.
Cross Country is definitely a sport that requires a lot of dedication and athletic ability. With the upcoming season arriving soon, Coach Daniel Drimmel is excited about the heightened number of athletes going out this year. He is also excited to see the potential that the newcomers provide to the team and individually. As the season progresses Coach Drimmel is looking forward to seeing Senior Teagan Walker and Junior Lane Elam excel and become leaders for the younger generations.
