The student section at Larned High School activities is something that many younger students look forward to as they make their way to high school. The student section consists of freshman through seniors at Larned High School. It’s the students’ way of showing their support for their teams while also having a good time with a fun theme such as “Hawain night, or White Lies” students use the opportunity to dress up in fun costumes, make phenomenal posters, and yell till they lose their voices.
One thing everyone may notice about the student section is that they’re almost never quiet. They also yell many chants that range from something original to something you’ve never heard before. Something that everyone in the stands and on the field is thankful for is the support that the student section and fans bring to the events. Whether it’s raining, snowing, or sunny, our community shows up for their athletes. If you’ve been to a game I’m sure you’ve noticed that the school marks off a section of bleachers just for the student section which is yet another way our school shows support. You may have also noticed that families, cheerleaders and sometimes even the athletes will cheer along with the student section.
Throughout the years our community has shown up game after game ready to see the silly, and outstanding costumes our students wear. Another thing you may notice is that the student section is almost never sitting so be prepared to stand for a good amount of the game. While at a game you can definitely notice which parents have been going to games longer because they’ve learned to sit on the sides of the student section or high up behind them because they create a wall of support and people.
While the student section is outstanding I personally believe we could get even better in a few areas. For example, everyone enjoys the themes, although not many people show up to be a part of it. Many students stay home, go out with friends, or come to the games without participating in the student section. While a good part of students are participating in the athletic events there is also a good amount that does not, but still chooses not to participate. If more students would be involved in the theme and support of the student section I feel it could be better and our athletes would feel more supported. Support is a key part of athletic events. Everyone enjoys having a person or many people on their sidelines cheering them on throughout the good and bad games. In conclusion, make sure you show your support for our football team this Friday at home against Russell. Not to mention it’s a Larned High Schools Homecoming game!
