Receiving a meaningful gift from the ones you love is something you’ll never forget. Whether it was a gift for Christmas, or a birthday present, or even a gift given out of kindness. A few students at LHS shared their favorite meaningful gifts that they have received.
Maggie Haas who is a junior at LHS had stated, “My favorite and most meaningful gift I’ve been given was a Bible my sister had given me.” Maggie had said, “My sister had read through parts of it and underlined and highlighted parts she thought I would like, and she left notes with messages throughout the book.” When asked what made this gift so meaningful to her she had stated, “My sister now lives overseas and having those notes from her means so much to me, and makes that my most memorable gift.”
Devora Bowersox, who is a freshman at LHS, stated “The most meaningful gift I’ve gotten is a necklace from my biological mom.” Devora talked about how this necklace meant a lot to her, and how it reminds her of her biological mother. Devora said, “This necklace gives me a reminder of home and the culture that I don’t get to experience anymore.” This shows that even if a gift is small and inexpensive it can mean the world to someone. It also helps you to see how much a person cares about you, even if the thing is small. Every gift has a story, and the story behind it can mean the world to someone.
Sometimes a meaningful gift doesn’t always have to be an item, sometimes It could be a person. Freshman Peyton Jones had stated “My most meaningful gift is my friends.” When asked why her friends are her most meaningful gift she said “All of my friends feel like they fell from the heavens and they deserve the world and they mean a lot to me.” Even though different friendships have different types of bonds, the effect is the same, by making your friends feel safe, connected, and comfortable with each other. Everyone treats their friends differently, but if you choose great friends, they will make you feel loved in a way that no one else can.
In conclusion, the gifts we receive from others can not only make us feel good in the moment, but also have a long lasting effect on us. They can be reminders of the people in our lives, and give us hope for the future.
